Three Men's Soccer Players Pick Up First-Team Regional Honors

It marked the first All-Region award for Venter and Sandoval, and the second for Rozeboom, who was named third-team All-Far West last season.
Sandoval, a forward native to Albuquerque, was named first-team all-conference following the Lobos' claim on the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation title. Over the course of the season, he nabbed one MPSF Player of the Week award and was once named to College Soccer News' National Team of the Week. He was also named the offensive MVP in both the TLC Invitational and the University of Akron Tournament.
He finished the season with eight goals and eight assists for 24 total points, the second most on the team. He led the Lobos in shots and shots on goal with 60 and 29 respectively, and has two game winning goals to his name.
The Lobos' primary centerback for the past two seasons, Venter added his All-Region honor to an already impressive list of postseason awards. He was named a second-team CoSIDA/Capital One All-American and a third-team All-American by College Soccer News, as well as first-team all-conference.
Venter also found his way onto three all-tournament teams throughout the course of the season, being named the defensive MVP in the TLC Invitational and the UA Tournament, and was named to the MPSF all-tournament team. He also has one MPSF Player of the Week award to his credit.
On the season he led the team in minutes played with 2,030 and contributed five goals and one assist.
For the second straight season Rozeboom, also named a second-team All-American by the NSCAA, earned an All-Region honor, making his first appearance on the first All-Far West team. This year he tallied eight points with three goals and two assists this season, all three goals coming on penalty kicks.
He was named first-team all-MPSF (his third all-conference honor, first on the first-team,) as well as to Top Drawer Soccer's Top 100 list (No. 37). Rozeboom also earned one of 52 spots on the 2012 MLS Player Combine list.
Smith closed out the year leading the Lobos in scoring with ten goals and five assists for 25 points on the year. He had one game winning goal and one game tying goal, and maintained a .511 shot-on-goal percentage.
He was named to three national teams of the week between Top Drawer Soccer and College Soccer News over the course of the season, earned one MPSF Player of the Week award and also earned a spot on the first All-MPSF team.
Green was also invited to the 2012 MLS Player Combine. He started all 22 games for the Lobos this season, recording two goals and four assists for eight points on the year. On the season, Green carried a .522 shot-on-goal percentage. He was named second-team all-conference and also earned a spot on the 2011 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation all-tournament team.
