The duo reached the finals at the ITA Regional Tournament and participated in the ITA National Indoor Tournament. At the ITA All-American, Anderson and Phillips defeated the nationally ranked number seven doubles team with a score of 8-3. He went undefeated at the Denver Invitational in singles, 4-0. 2010-2011: Junior Season Anderson played mostly at the number three position in singles and played equally at number one and number two in doubles with Jadon Phillips. In singles, he went 10-13 for the season. In doubles, the duo went 16-7 for the season. They received their second consecutive MWC All-Conference award for doubles. 2009-2010: Sophomore Season He compiled a 16-17 overall singles record, going 8-11 in spring and 8-6 in fall. He played all but one spring singles match at the No. 4 position, posting an 8-10 mark. He was named to the Mountain West Conference doubles team 2008-2009: Freshman Season He was named to the Academic All-Mountain West Conference team. He compiled a 12-10 spring singles record. After going 7-3 at the number six position, he moved to the number five position the rest of the season. He had an overall record of 21-18. He had two five-match win streaks (Feb.1-March 6 and March 13-March 27). Prior to UNM He is a 2008 graduate of Citadel High School in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He is a three time national winner in Canadian doubles and reached the Canadian doubles finals in summer 2008. He played in the singles semifinals of 2007 Canadian indoor and outdoor under 18 nationals and was the 2006 singles outdoor Canadian under-16 singles champion. Personal He is the son of David and Michelle Anderson and has two siblings, Deanne and Emmett. He played defensive end in high school, collecting first team all-star honors in the Nova Scotia high school football league and also played basketball. In both football and basketball, the teams made it to the provincial finals in 2008. His major is psychology. Head Coach Alan Dils on Anderson: "If Phil can play singles like he did at the end of the season last spring, he will be All-Conference singles. I expect Phil and Jadon to reach the NCAA tournament in doubles this year and be able to participate in every national collegiate event in the season." |
