2011 Fall: Sophomore Season

Hegelund reached the finals of doubles at the NMSU Invitational with Mitch McDaniels. He went 5-2 in singles at the ITA Regional Tournament.

2010-2011: Freshman Season

In singles, he went 5-5 for the season. He held the number seven spot on the team behind a bunch of upperclassmen and played number six frequently. He was the deciding match in a 4-3 victory against Middle Tennessee at the HEB Corpus Christi Tournament.

Prior to UNM

He is a 2010 graduate of George Washington High School in Denver, Colo. He was the number one singles player for his high school. He placed 3rd at state his senior year. He was coached by Kenneth Mason.

Personal

He is the son of Thomas and Helle Hegelund and has one younger brother, Simon, who is also currently playing tennis at UNM. The family is originally from Denmark. His hobbies include tennis, reading, music, watching and playing sports, and hanging out with friends. His favorite athlete is Roger Federer. He plans to major in psychology.
