BELGRADE, Serbia -- With the 2009 University World Games tennis matches wrapped up, former University of New Mexico men's tennis players Max Jones and Graeme Kassautzki made a good showing representing Great Britain and Canada.

Jones collected a silver medal, advancing to the championship doubles match with partner Dominic Inglot. After four straight wins, the pair fell just short, losing to Lee Hsin-Han and Yi Chu-Huan of Chinese Taipei, 6-4, 7-6 (6-3). Jones and Inglot defeated John Peers and John Smith of Australia in the semifinals and David Estruch and Ignasi Villacamp from Spain in the quarterfinals in the run at the gold.

Meanwhile, Kassautzki fell one win short of a spot in the men's singles quarterfinals, losing to Dylan Kim after two straight victories.

The event is the 25th overall and comparable to the Olympics with some 9,000 athletes - students from 140 different countries participating in 15 sports - competing in the bi-annual event.
