Former Lobo women's basketball player Molly McKinnon returns to her alma mater to work with women's basketball and softball as their strength and conditioning coach.

She earned a Master of Science degree in exercise physiology and sports administration from the University of New Mexico. McKinnon also earned her Bachelor of Science degree from UNM.

Previously, McKinnon was an assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of Kansas from August of 2005 to June of 2011. She was in charge of developing all aspects of strength and conditioning for softball, soccer, and men's golf while also assisting with men's and women's basketball.

While at KU, McKinnon observed lactate levels in her soccer athletes during preseason, postseason, and at the conclusion of the competitive season along with using the team polar system to simulate postseason training to game-day data.

During her Lobo playing career, McKinnon ranked in the top 20 in UNM career scoring and career rebounds; the top 10 for three-point field goal percentage in a season, free-throw percentage in a season, free-throw percentage in career, assists in a season, assists in career, single-game steals, and career steals. She ranked in the top five for three-point percentage in a career, and games played at 125.

McKinnon holds four different certifications: RSCC, SCCC, USAW-1, and Titleist Performance Institute. She is also a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, and USA Weightlifting.

She lives in Rio Rancho and is married to Zach Rupp (former Lobo football standout) and has two sons, a four year old named Rowan, and his little brother, Tate, who is two.
