Lobo Women's Basketball Ranked Among Top 25 Academically by WBCAThe New Mexico women's basketball team ranked No. 22 on the 2007-08 Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll released Monday. This award, given in NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA and Junior College/Community College, honors teams throughout the nation that carry the highest grade point averages (GPA) for the entire season based on the nomination submitted by WBCA-member head coaches.7/2/2008
Marsh Nominated for NCAA Woman of the YearCOLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Chelsea Goodman of Brigham Young University and Dionne Marsh of the University of New Mexico, have been nominated by the Mountain West Conference for the 18th annual NCAA Woman of the Year Award. Marsh completed her four-year career at New Mexico as the Lobos' all-time leading scorer with 1,913 points. A four-time all-MWC and academic all-MWC selection, she was also named the MWC Tournament's Most Valuable Player three times.6/24/2008
Former Lobo Jordan Adams Named Director of Basketball OperationsUniversity of New Mexico women's basketball coach Don Flanagan has announced that former Lobo Jordan Adams has been hired as the new Director of Basketball Operations. Adams, who played at UNM from 1999-2003, completes the coaching staff and will be responsible for team travel, scouting, tape exchange and camps along with various day-to-day operations.6/10/2008
Nine Lobos Earn Arthur Ashe Sports Scholars HonorsNine University of New Mexico student-athletes were named 2008 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars in this week's Diverse: Issues in Higher Education magazine. 182 Lobos Honored For Work In The ClassroomThe University of New Mexico Athletics Department recently honored 182 Lobo student-athletes at the Fifth Annual Student-Athlete Academic Awards Celebration. Student-athletes were recognized for excellence in the classroom by maintaining a 3.20 or higher cumulative grade point average and excellence as active members of their team. 16 student-athletes are currently maintaining a 4.0 or higher cumulative grade point average. |
