New Mexico head coach Don Flanagan
On the game:
"I thought we were much better the second half, defensively and offensively. They kept mixing it up and I thought we were slow to cut and weren't active enough in the first half on offense. Then we were allowing them too many easy shots. What we were doing was pressuring the kids that aren't their primary shooters and missing out on the kids that were their shooters. Mestdach had 19 points and she's 5 of 10 from the three. Everybody in the building knows that she's a three-point shooter yet we didn't get out and put enough pressure on her. Now she did start driving the second half which was smart because we were pressuring her a bit more. Second half we held them to 23 percent shooting which was much better than the first half.
I thought our turn overs in the first half were poor. We had 12 the first half and three the second half. That's much better. Take care of the ball, run your offense, get good shot selections and get second shots. Having Amy (Beggin) back was big. That helped us a bunch defensively and offensively. They're a pretty good team. They can shot it and they have inside kids just don't have as much depth and I think they tired just a bit."
Colorado State head coach Kristen Holt
On playing in The Pit:
"It's a tough place to play but at the same time it's a fun place to play because we don't get to play in front of that many fans on a normal basis. I thought our kids did a good job of handling the crowd. Sometimes it's hard to communicate when there are that many fans out there. I don't think our players are really used to that and I don't know how much that really affected us."
On the changing factor in the second half:
"I thought New Mexico's zone did a nice job. We had a ton of turn overs in this game but you credit the defense. I think they took away our inside players. We couldn't score in the paint and we were relying on jump shots that we just weren't hitting."
