Sanchez and Staff to Host Coaching Clinic for Fans
Oct. 6, 2011 ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- First year head coach Yvonne Sanchez and her staff are eager to get the Lobo women’s basketball season under way, and want to share it with all of their local fans with a public Coaching Clinic. The clinic, open to fans of all ages, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. in the Rudy Davalos practice facility for attendees who chose to register on the day of the event. Attendees will then be able to attend an otherwise closed Lobo women’s basketball practice in The Pit beginning at 9 a.m. During warm-ups, the coaching staff will pass out a practice plan, as well as handouts indicating the team’s “points of emphasis” and rule changes effective this season. Coach Sanchez will wear a microphone for the duration of the three-hour practice, giving fans in attendance some personal insight into player/coach interactions and a sneak peek at some strategies that will be implemented this season. Attendees will also enjoy guided tours that will be conducted throughout practice. Director of Operations Dave Shoemate and former Lobo player and current Video Coordinator Amy Beggin will lead groups through The Pit, the team locker room and other exclusive areas of the renovated arena. Refreshments will also be available for clinic participants, and door prizes will be given away via drawing throughout the morning. The cost of attendance is $25 per person, and fans can register on the day of the event or by way of the form linked below. Completed forms can be returned to Amy Beggin by email at abeggin@unm.edu, by post to:
