AS A FRESHMAN (2002-03)...finished with a season stroke average of 84.1 in 7 rounds of play...best finish of the season came at the Kent Youel Invitational where Van Winkle placed tied for 76th out of 91 golfers...shot a season low round of 76 in the second round of the Kent Youel Invite.

HIGH SCHOOL...played golf for Becky Robertson at Goddard High School...team was 4AAAA champions her four years in high school...Van Winkle was the New Mexico individual champion in 2002...was also the high school long drive champion...earned a National Student-Athlete Day award and the Nancy Lopez Award (MVP) three years running...was named all-academic in golf four straight years, plus once in volleyball...was a member of the National Honor Society and the National Honor Roll (2002), which recognizes seniors only...was named to Who’s Who in High School Students four years straight...earned the NMSU Alumni Honor Scholar Award...was the sports editor for the GHS yearbook for two years, general editor for one...was named the Sun Country Jr. PGA Sportswoman of the Year in 2001...was a member of Sun Country’s Jr. America’s Cup Team for two years...was a member of ‘Assisteens’ for four years...while with Sun Country Jr. PGA was named to the all-section team.
