Junior women's golfer Kailin Downs has been named to the Academic All-America Women's At-Large third team, as selected by the College Sports Information Director's of America (CoSIDA). Downs was also named to the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) All-Scholar Team for the third consecutive season earlier this month.

Downs, a General Management major, boasted a 3.82 GPA to earn third-team honors. The Bend, Ore., native earned honorable mention All-America honors for the second straight year after leading the Lobos to a 15th place finish at the NCAA Championships. She finished the season ranked No. 32 in the nation and set a UNM junior class record with a stroke average of 73.91.

A three-time All-Mountain West performer, Downs will represent the United States at the 2004 U.S. vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championship July 13-16 in Chiba, Japan.
