PUEBLO, COLO. - University of New Mexico women's golfer Alexandra Phelps fired a 75 in the second round of the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship in Pueblo, Colo., at the par-72, 6,263-yard Walking Stick Golf Course. Phelps finished the first and second rounds of stroke-play with a 149 after carding a 74 Tuesday. UNM sophomore Morgan Grantham shot a 79 in the second and finished with a 152.

Former UNM standout Kailin Downs is competing in the event as well. Downs shot a four-over-par 76 and was tied for 61st after the opening round. However, Downs is yet to start her second round after play was suspended Wednesday at 3:40 MT. Downs was a four-time Mountain West Conference honoree and was named the MWC Golfer of the Year twice.

The first two days of the championship are stroke-play qualifying rounds. The field will be reduced from 144 to the lowest 64 players, who will advance to match play. Complete coverage of the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship can be found at www.uswapl.org.
