Women's Golf: Lobos in Second at Women's Collegiate Showdown
Complete Release in PDF Format Las Vegas, Nev. -- The 17th-ranked University of New Mexico women's golf team is in second place behind host UNLV at the Las Vegas Founders Women’s Collegiate Showdown being held today through Wednesday. The Lobos shot a first round 306 (+15) and are three-shots behind the Rebels at 303. New Mexico’s Kristi Larsen leads the Lobos shooting a first round 75 (+3), which places her tied for third place. The tournament is being played at the Anthem Country Club Golf Course in Henderson. The course playes to a par 72 on 6,194 yards. Live tournament stats can be seen at the UNLV site (www.unlvrebels.com) or at golfstat.com. Leading the tournament individually is BYU’s Maragret Gibby who shot a first round 72 (E). Larsen is back in her first tournament of the season after having injured her hand. Sophomore’s Kailin Downs and Christina Spence are right behind the leaders at 76 (+4) and tied for 9th place. Sophomore Shannon Johnson finished with a first round 79 (+7) and is tied for 26th while junior Katrina Leckovic shot an 81 (+9) and sits tied for 40th place. The second round begins tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m (PST).
