Las Vegas, Nev. -- The 16th-ranked University of New Mexico women's golf team took over first place at the Las Vegas Founders Women’s Collegiate Showdown after shooting a season low round of 283, knocking 23 shots off their first round 306. The Lobos hold a five shot lead over host UNLV (594).

In a battle of Lobos, sophomore Kailin Downs and junior Kristi Larsen are tied for second place with 146s (+2), one shot behind tournament leader, UNLV’s Sunny Oh (145).

Sophomore Christina Spence shot a career-low 71 and is tied for fifth place - one shot behind Downs and Larsen, and two shots behind the individual leader. Spence totals a two round score of 147 (76-71 • +6).

Sophomore Shannon Johnson shot a season low 71 and jumped from tied for 26th place to tied for 10th with a two-round score of 150 (79-71 • +6). Junior Katrina Leckovic shaved off seven shots off her first round 81 to score a 74 (+2) and is currently tied for 22nd (155 • +11).

There are several teams still on the course. Final standings will be posted when available.

The final round of the Women’s Collegiate Showdown begins tomorrow morning at 9 a.m (PST) with a shotgun start. The tournament is being played at the Anthem Country Club Golf Course in Henderson.
