New Mexico Women's Soccer Player Suspended Indefinitely

University of New Mexico head women's soccer coach Kit Vela announced today that junior defender Elizabeth Lambert has been suspended indefinitely for her actions in Thursday's match against BYU in the semifinals of the Mountain West Conference Championship in Provo, Utah.

No. 4 Lobo Women's Soccer Team Falls to No. 1 BYU, 1-0

The fourth-seeded University of New Mexico women's soccer team fell 1-0 to the top-seeded No. 8 BYU Cougars this afternoon in the semifinals of the Mountain West Conference Tournament. The Lobos gave the defending champs all they could handle in a close and hard-fought match. New Mexico finishes the season at 13-5-3. No. 8 BYU improves to 17-2-2 on the season.

Fourth Seed New Mexico defeats fifth seed Wyoming, 1-0

The fourth-seeded University of New Mexico women's soccer team defeated fifth seed Wyoming, 1-0 in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Conference Tournament this afternoon at BYU's South Field. Sophomore Zaneta Wyne put away a header in the 46th minute to put the Lobos on top for good. The win marks the most wins in a single season for head coach Kit Vela. The Lobos improve to 13-4-3 on the season. Wyoming falls to 9-8-3 on the season. New Mexico advances to its fifth MWC Tournament semifinals in program history and will take on top seed BYU.

Lobo Women's Soccer Lands Three On All-Mountain West Conference Team

Three University of New Mexico women's soccer players were named to the 2009 all-Mountain West Conference team as announced at by the conference office tonight. Sophomore Jennifer Williams earned first-team honors and junior Alexis Ball and sophomore Amanda Collins picked up second-team honors.

Fourth Seed New Mexico To Face Fifth Seed Wyoming in Mountain West Conference Tournament

The fourth-seeded Lobo women's soccer team will take on fifth seed Wyoming in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Conference Tournament at 3 p.m. MT on Wednesday Nov. 4. The tournament is hosted by No. 8 rankded BYU in at South Field in Provo, Utah. The Lobos (12-4-3, 4-3-0 MWC) will look to avenge a Oct. 3, 2-1 loss to the Cowgirls (9-7-3, 3-3-1) in Albuquerque.
