Lobos Team Up with Foot Solutions for Haiti Relief EffortsThe University of New Mexico Athletics Department has teamed up with Foot Solutions and Soles4Souls in effort to send new or gently worn shoes to the people of Haiti. So far the duo has sent 190 pairs of shoes to those who are in need. On Jan. 12 an earthquake sent shockwaves through the poverty stricken nation of Haiti. The residents of Port au Prince, Haiti were left without shelter, food and protection for their feet.2/18/2010
Lobos Getting It Done In the ClassroomThe combined grade point average (G.P.A.) of the University of New Mexico's 21 athletics programs for the 2009 fall semester was 3.12 according to the UNM registrar's office. That's the second-highest fall semester G.P.A. since UNM began tracking grades in 1988, and ties the second-highest G.P.A. overall. The record of 3.14 was set in the fall of 2008 and the top spring semester of 3.12 occurred in 2009, meaning the top-three semesters have been achieved in the past three terms. The Lobos have now reached a G.P.A. of 3.00 or better for 14 of the last 15 semesters.2/11/2010
50 Lobos Awarded Academic All-MWC Honors For Fall 2009The Mountain West Conference honored 50 University of New Mexico student-athletes with the Fall 2009 Academic All-Mountain West Conference Team honor today. The Lobos recorded the second-most honorees among the nine MWC members and upped their numbers by three.2/3/2010
Lobo Women's Soccer Signs Four to National Letters of IntentThe University of New Mexico women's soccer team has signed four Southern California student-athletes to National Letters of Intent today. Head coach Kit Vela announced the signing of Brooke Ellison, Elizabeth Nare, Heather Williams and Brianna Webster to the 2010 Lobo women's soccer roster. This highly touted class brings a long list of achievements in both high school soccer and club soccer.1/22/2010
Lobo Women's Soccer Visits Southwest Secondary Learning CenterThe University of New Mexico women's soccer team paid a visit to the Southwest Secondary Learning Center today to share soccer technique and have fun with a group of seventh and eight graders. This was the first face-to-face interaction between the students and the Lobos since starting a pen-pal program in the fall. |
