Lobo Softball Prepares For 2010 Season

The University of New Mexico softball team will begin spring workouts tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. in preparation for the 2010 season. Head coach Ty Singleton enters his fourth year with a renewed sense of excitement, as the 2010 roster is loaded with talented newcomers who are expected to make an immediate impact. New Mexico's five seniors and a solid crop of returning sophomores will lead the way, while six accomplished freshmen will push for starting positions alongside the veterans.

Lobo Softball Inks Ingram in Early Signing Period

Lobo head softball coach Ty Singleton announced the signing of Kaity Ingram to a National Letter of Intent last week. Ingram is a transfer student from Pima Community College in Tucson, Ariz. and brings a list of athletic and academic accolades with her.

STEVENS: Lobos' 7-1 Fall Record Still Requires a Winter-Load Of Work

In evaluating a fall season in which his young Lobos got a solid dose of game-winning confidence, Lobo coach Ty Singleton liked what he saw. But there is a slight twist to the sights on the diamond that Singleton and his staff judged as his Lobos raced to a 7-1 fall mark with the only blemish a 5-0 decision to powerful, eight-time NCAA champion, Arizona. Singleton liked what he saw because it promises to bring him even better views come February when the University of New Mexico enters the diamond wars that count.

New Mexico Goes 3-1 At Arizona Fall Classic

The University of New Mexico softball team closed out the 2009 fall season with a 3-1 performance at the Arizona Fall Classic, Oct. 10-11. The Lobos defeated Cypress College 7-3 and fell to the host Arizona Wildcats 5-0 for their only loss at the Classic. The Wildcats made it to the College World Series last year, and are eight-time National Champions. New Mexico topped Central Arizona and Arizona Western 6-1 and 5-0, respectively, to close out the weekend.

New Mexico Softball Hosts Coaches Clinic

The New Mexico coaching staff will host a 2010 Lobo Softball Coaches Clinic on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 22-23 at Lobo Field. The two-day clinic will focus on practice planning, offensive and defensive drills, team building exercises, and preparing a team and athletes to compete at the collegiate level. A panel discussion and a Q&A session with college coaches are both included. The clinic runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 22 and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23.
