New Mexico Softball Travels To Texas State TournamentThe New Mexico softball team hits the road this weekend, opening the 2010 season at the CenturyLink Classic Feb. 12-14 in San Marcos, Texas. The Lobos take on the University of Texas-Arlington at 1:30 p.m. MT on Friday to kick off regular season play. New Mexico then matches up against 2009 Regional Qualifiers and tournament hosts Texas State for two games, 6 p.m. MT on Friday and 4 p.m. MT on Saturday. New Mexico will play Oklahoma State at 6 p.m. MT on Saturday and Northern Illinois at 8 a.m. on Sunday in the last two games of the tournament. Lobo Softball Prepares For 2010 SeasonThe University of New Mexico softball team will begin spring workouts tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. in preparation for the 2010 season. Head coach Ty Singleton enters his fourth year with a renewed sense of excitement, as the 2010 roster is loaded with talented newcomers who are expected to make an immediate impact. STEVENS: Lobos' 7-1 Fall Record Still Requires a Winter-Load Of WorkIn evaluating a fall season in which his young Lobos got a solid dose of game-winning confidence, Lobo coach Ty Singleton liked what he saw. But there is a slight twist to the sights on the diamond that Singleton and his staff judged as his Lobos raced to a 7-1 fall mark with the only blemish a 5-0 decision to powerful, eight-time NCAA champion, Arizona. Singleton liked what he saw because it promises to bring him even better views come February when the University of New Mexico enters the diamond wars that count.10/12/2009
New Mexico Goes 3-1 At Arizona Fall ClassicThe University of New Mexico softball team closed out the 2009 fall season with a 3-1 performance at the Arizona Fall Classic, Oct. 10-11. The Lobos defeated Cypress College 7-3 and fell to the host Arizona Wildcats 5-0 for their only loss at the Classic. The Wildcats made it to the College World Series last year, and are eight-time National Champions. New Mexico topped Central Arizona and Arizona Western 6-1 and 5-0, respectively, to close out the weekend. |
