STEVENS: Lobos' 7-1 Fall Record Still Requires a Winter-Load Of WorkIn evaluating a fall season in which his young Lobos got a solid dose of game-winning confidence, Lobo coach Ty Singleton liked what he saw. But there is a slight twist to the sights on the diamond that Singleton and his staff judged as his Lobos raced to a 7-1 fall mark with the only blemish a 5-0 decision to powerful, eight-time NCAA champion, Arizona. Singleton liked what he saw because it promises to bring him even better views come February when the University of New Mexico enters the diamond wars that count.10/12/2009
New Mexico Goes 3-1 At Arizona Fall ClassicThe University of New Mexico softball team closed out the 2009 fall season with a 3-1 performance at the Arizona Fall Classic, Oct. 10-11. The Lobos defeated Cypress College 7-3 and fell to the host Arizona Wildcats 5-0 for their only loss at the Classic. The Wildcats made it to the College World Series last year, and are eight-time National Champions. New Mexico topped Central Arizona and Arizona Western 6-1 and 5-0, respectively, to close out the weekend.10/8/2009
New Mexico Shuts Out Luna CC 5-0 and 10-0The University of New Mexico softball team handily shut out Luna Community College yesterday afternoon, dropping the Rough Riders 5-0 in the first game of a doubleheader and mercy-ruling them 10-0 in the second. Several Lobos contributed at the plate in the second game, led by sophomores Kerry Hodgins and Jessica Garcia, who went 4-4 and 2-3 at the plate, respectively.9/20/2009
New Mexico Tops Odessa College 4-0 And 3-2The University of New Mexico softball team topped Odessa College 4-0 and 3-2 in a fall doubleheader Saturday at Lobo Field. With the Lobos trailing 2-0 in the second game, left fielder Danielle Castro ripped a triple in the fourth inning to drive in all three RBIs of the game. Right fielder Shenise Cox led New Mexico in the first game, going 2-for-3 at the plate.9/17/2009
Lobo Softball Announces 2010 ScheduleUniversity of New Mexico head softball coach Ty Singleton has announced the 2010 Lobo softball schedule today. The 2010 schedule features some of the biggest names in college softball including 2009 National Champion and Pac-10 runner-up Washington, College World Series participants Missouri and Arizona, Super Regional Qualifier Baylor, and Mountain West Conference regular season champion BYU. Conference opponents San Diego State and UNLV received at-large bids, joining BYU in the NCAA Tournament ranks. The Lobos are currently scheduled to play 46 games and host 18 games at Lobo Field in 2010. |
