Lobos Split Twin Bill With Texas Tech, Win Game Two 3-1

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The New Mexico softball team (21-14) split the twin bill with Texas Tech (16-17), winning game two 3-1 but losing game one 1-0 at Lobo Field today.
In game one, the Lobos out hit the Raiders 6-4, leaving 10 runners on base, allowing Texas Tech to pull out the win. The game's only run came in the fourth as Elyssa Sigala singled to center, scoring Natalie Kula who walked and stole second.
Junior Ashley Perkins suffered the loss, dropping to 10-3 overall. Perkins tossed 4.2 innings, allowing four hits, two walks and an earned run while striking out three. Sophomore Iraina Ogas pitched 2.1 hitless innings of relief and struck out one batter.
Game two proved much better for the Lobos even though they only managed four hits, leaving three runners on base.
The Raiders got one run back in the sixth as Kelly Rhyne doubled to bring home Kula.
Getting her fifth win of the season, senior Amy Dumas (5-8) hurled five innings for New Mexico, allowing five hits, walking two and striking out two. Ogas earned her third save of the season, throwing two hitless innings, walking one and striking out one. Falling to 2-6, the Raiders' Julie Hauck threw 3.1 innings for two hits, one run and struck out two. Keely Tucker pitched 2.2 innings in relief, allowing two hits, one run, one walks and no strikeouts.
The Lobos complete the homestand tomorrow as they host New Mexico State in a doubleheader starting at noon.
