Bush Named MWC Co-Diver Of The Week

ew Mexico's Aubrey Bush and Wyoming's Stephanie Ortiz are Co-Divers of the Week. It is the first weekly honor for Bush as a Lobo and the first for a New Mexico diver since former diver Carrie Quinn earned the honor Dec. 13, 2007. Bush, who hails from Franktown, Colo., secured a first-place mark of 256.25 on the platform tower at the Air Force Diving Invitational. Bush's score, which surpassed her previous personal best by 19 points, ranks first in the MWC this season. The sophomore also competed on the 3-meter springboard, earning a final score of 273.15 to place third.

Aubrey Bush Captures First in Platform Competition at Air Force Invite

Aubrey Bush secured a first place mark of 256.25 on the platform dive at the Air Force Diving Invitational today. The mark is the top score for a Mountain West Conference diver this season. She was followed by Alexandra Lusk in fourth with 191.65 points, Sasha Evangulova in 16th with 146.30 points and Ashlee Erickson in 19th with a mark of 131.20. In the 3-meter competition Bush finished third for the Lobos with 273.15 points.

New Mexico Travels to Air Force Diving Invitational

The New Mexico divers will be in action this weekend, Jan. 29-30, as they compete at the annual Air Force Diving Invitational. Friday's events are slated to begin at 2:00 p.m., while Saturday's events are scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m. New Mexico boasts the league's top divers in the women's 1-meter and platform events, with Ashlee Erickson leading the way on the 1-meter board and Aubrey Bush holding the league's highest score in the platform dive.

New Mexico Falls to TCU, 156-131

ennifer Patterson led the way for the Lobos in a 156-131 loss to TCU Friday afternoon. Patterson swam the 100-yard butterfly in 57.59 to capture a win for New Mexico. It was one of four season records that were broken in Fort Worth. She was followed by Nanette Wittenberg in second (1:00.61). Another one of five first-place finishes for the Lobos came from Marissa Campbell in the 100 backstroke. The third was in the 400 individual medley where Ashley Grisdale touched the wall in 4:36.86. In second was Jocelyn Colella (4:38.84) and Lindsey Morris in third (4:39.76).

STEVENS: Ashley Grisdale Finds Record-Setting Strategy

Lobo senior Ashley Grisdale said she "fell in love with it all," on her long-ago recruiting visit to UNM. Things have worked out well for Grisdale and the Lobos. She has been both versatile and record-setting for coach Tracy Ljone. The UNM captain is looking to set the Lobos' mark in the 200 butterfly at least one more time before she leaves the UNM pool.
