Swimming and Diving: Tracey Berghian is Named MWC Diver of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - For the fourth time this season, a New Mexico diver has been named Mountain West Conference Diver of the Week. Sophomore Becca Barras has garnered the award three times, all of which were during the fall of 2002. Tracey Berghian receives the award after an outstanding performance at UNMs dual meet against New Mexico State on Jan. 25. where she placed first in both springboard events.
On the 1-meter board, the Phoeniz, Ariz. native scored 273.52 points, giving her a new season-best time in the event and a first-place finish. Berghian also contributed points to the Lobo win (146-92) over New Mexico State with her top score in the 3-meter diving event. The junior scored 266.16 points in the event which secured the first-place spot.
Berghian and the rest of the New Mexico diving team will take to the pool Feb. 8-9 at the Falcon Diving Invite in Colorado Springs, Colo. before travelling to Oklahoma City, Okla. for the MWC Championships Feb. 19-22.Q
