She went 9-14 in doubles playing in the number two spot. She had a season-best four match win streak from February 5-12, winning all eight of her matches without dropping a set and only giving away just 10 games in the process. She gained very valuable experience as a freshman. She pulled out a great three-set win over UNLV's Lucia Batta with a score of 7-5, 2-6, 1-0. She also picked up a three-set win over Northern Arizona's Edit Suhajda. In doubles, she mostly teamed with Nikolina Grbac going 7-9 at the number two position. She made history for UNM by becoming the first freshman to make it to the quarterfinals at the ITA Regionals held in Las Vegas, Nev. She was named Most Valuable Player for UNM her freshman year as well as earning the most individual wins on the team. Prior to UNM She is a 2010 graduate from Gymnazium Hejcin in Olomovc, Czech Republic. She comes to UNM with valuable experience playing as a junior internationally and competing in several ITF tournaments. Personal She is from the Czech Republic and is the daughter of Renata Bezdickova and Josef Besdicek. She has one sister Katerina. Both of her parents are civil engineers. Her favorite athlete is Andy Roddick and plans to major in finance. Head Coach Roy Canada on Bezdickova: "Misa got to the quarterfinals of the very prestigious ITA Mountain Regional Championship becoming the first freshman to go that far in the history of our program. She has a huge serve and forehand. She is very disciplined and is a very hard worker with a bright future in college tennis." Assistant Coach Michelle Heidbrink on Bezdickova: "Misa is a tough competitor and has had a wonderful college career so far. She is determined to be the best and it shows in her practice and match play. She is smart and knows how to use her strengths to win matches. I am excited to see her continue to grow as a player and person this year on and off the court." |
