2010-2011: Freshman Season

At number two singles Grbac ("Nina") compiled some impressive wins against UTEP, ACU, NMSU, Montana State, and at number three against conference rivals USAFA and Colorado State. In doubles, she was teamed with another freshman Michaela Bezdickova, who together won seven out of nine matches in the number two position against teams such as Northern Arizona University, University of Colorado-Boulder, and Abilene Christian University. She was named Most Improved Player at UNM.

Prior to UNM

She is a 2010 graduate from Boca Prep International School in Boca Raton, Fla. and was named Salutatorian and earned all A's. She says her greatest thrill during those years was winning the 2008 World Babolat Cup in Paris, France.

Personal

Originally from Pula, Croatia, this hard working sophomore is the daughter of Mirjana and Mladen Grbac and has one sister Paula, and one brother Robert. She likes to eat Gnocchi and plans to major in Biology.

Head Coach Roy Canada on Grbac:

"Nina is a hard worker with a very solid game off the ground and great hands up at the net. As she gets more comfortable with her transition game, look to her for some major wins in this upcoming season."

Assistant Coach Michelle Heidbrink on Grbac:

"Nina has come back this year hitting the ball even bigger than last year. With her great court sense and all around talent, she is sure to do some damage for UNM this year. She is continuing to learn and loves playing doubles and it's fun to watch her compete."
