Prior to UNM

Sarah Khan is a 2010 graduate from Overseas Pakistani Foundation in Islamabad, Pakistan. She was Pakistan's number one player in the Women's category for singles. She won her first national title at the age of 14. She also competed in the Fed Cup representing Pakistan, winning one match in doubles. The Fed Cup features top players such as Jelena Jankovic, Daniela Hantuchova and Victoria Azarenka.

Personal

She is the daughter of Mahboob and Shahla Khan. Her father is the head coach at the Islamabad Club. She enjoys listening to music, hanging out with friends, and traveling. Her favorite athletes are Roger Federer and Maria Sharapova. She was recommended by Samir Iftikhar (Current UNM Men's tennis player) who is a very close friend to the family. Her father has coached both her and Iftikhar throughout the years. She plans to major in Marketing.

Head Coach Roy Canada on Khan:

"Sarah is a very talented player with very smooth ground strokes and a killer backhand. She brings a lot of international experience to the team and a great maturity to her game. Unfortunately Sarah will have to sit this year out complying with the conditions set for her by the NCAA. Next year she is poised to be a major factor to our program as she will definitely make her mark on the tennis collegiate scene."

Assistant Coach Michelle Heidbrink on Khan:

"Sarah is a great addition to UNM; she has a bunch of international experience having played Fed Cup for her country and has beautiful, penetrating ground strokes. She is an aggressive baseliner with the ability to dictate points right off the bat and has a good knowledge of doubles."
