Getting to know Maria Sablina: Is the UNM athletic department community based? Does the tennis team go to other sporting events to support UNM? "Yes, a lot of athletes communicate with each other. It doesn't matter what sports they are playing. The tennis team goes to other sporting events to support our friends and UNM. We go to all the different sports and they in turn come to ours." Do you feel that the program has made you a better tennis player (mentally, physically) and why? "Yes definitely. The program has made me a much better player. I am stronger mentally and physically. I've never worked this hard until I came here at UNM. I feel like progress has been made every day I'm out on the court and in class. The program has certainly influenced me mentally. I think that the more you work on something, the better result that you will get back. I have been working hard and it is certainly paying off." |
