New Mexico Falls To Louisiana-Lafayette 4-2

BATON ROUGE, LA. --- The University of New Mexico women's tennis team fell to Louisiana-Lafayette, 4-2, on Sunday after a 45-minute delay due to bad weather in the area. The Lobos swept the doubles but only managed one win in singles.
Sandra Zmak, ranked No. 85, won her fourth singles match in a row for a 4-3 record. She moved up to the No. 2 spot for the ULL match and beat Myrthe Molenveld 7-6, 6-7, 11-9.
Lucy Scott was finishing her match with the Lobos down 3-2. Scott won the first set 7-5, but lost the second set 6-2 and third set 6-4 against Angelam Dangond to give Louisiana-Lafayette the victory.
The match between Mackenzie White and Kim Van Der Horst ended in a 6-6 tie in the third set to allow New Mexico to catch its flight.
The Lobos were up 1-0 after sweeping the double for only the second time this season. Scott and Zmak are now 3-2 at the No. 1 spot after splitting their weekend matches. Victoria Tessmar and Jennifer Ryba defeated Van Der Horst and Mia Gordon 8-4 to improve to 3-1 at No. 2.
The Lobos fall below .500 at 3-4 after dropping both matches in Louisiana this weekend. Louisiana-Lafayette improved to 6-1.
New Mexico will have more than a week off before hosting No. 49 Boise State on Feb. 29 and No. 65 Western Michigan on March 1.
