Women's Tennis: Lobos Fall To No. 30 Aztecs, 5-2, In First Conference Match Of The Year





SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Despite a strong start that saw the No. 52 Lobos win at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles positions to gain the key doubles point, they eventually fell 5-2 to MWC opponent San Diego State at the SDSU Courts yesterday afternoon. The Lobos' record drops to 8-7 while No. 30 SDSU improves to 11-3.

Sandy Lukowski and Maja Kovacek continued strong play at the No. 1 doubles spot yesterday, getting an 8-5 win over the team of Silvia Tornier and Indra Erichsen. At No. 3 the duo of Rachel Hatley and Maria Ruiz-Fabrega improved its record at the third spot to 6-2 with a decisive 8-1 defeat of Katalina Romero and Patricia Graf. No. 108 Tjasa Suvak was a bright point for the New Mexico singles side, grabbing a win at the No. 3 spot against Katja Karrento. She beat the Aztec player in two sets, 6-1, 6-1.
