Kwasigroch, Parkes Pick Up UNM Inspirational AwardsThe winners of the L.F. "Tow" Diehm Inspirational Award for 2008-09 is Johnny Parkes, while Sarah Kwasigroch is the recipient of the Leslie Self Inspirational Award. Parkes (men's tennis) and Kwasigroch (volleyball) are both 4-time Academic All- Mountain West Conference and have displayed commendable off-the-court characteristics throughout their playing careers.1/12/2010
Fairchild Playing Pro In CroatiaFormer Lobo All-American Jeanne Fairchild will be continuing her professional volleyball career with Club Split 1700 in Croatia for the 2010 season. Fairchild, a University of New Mexico volleyball player from 2006-08, graduated on Dec. 18, 2009 from the University of New Mexico with her bachelor's degree in Communications and Journalism. 1/8/2010

Hadfield Named AVCA All-America Honorable MentionAdd another name to the UNM Volleyball All-America banner hanging in the Johnson Center. Junior Taylor Hadfield became the second Lobo in two years to gain national recognition from the American Volleyball Coaches Association. The outside hitter from Corte Madera, Calif., was named to the 2009 AVCA All-America honorable mention list today.

STEVENS: Powerful Hawaii Ends Lobos' Season, NCAA RunThe Lobos didn't so much run into the No. 3 ranked Hawaii Wahine in the first round of the NCAA Volleyball Championships as much as the Lobos ran into Wahine's top gun, Kanani Danielson. The Lobos' first appearance in the NCAA tourney since 1994 ended in three sets in the Galen Center on the USC campus as Hawaii beat the University of New Mexico 3-0 (22-25, 16-25, 21-25). Danielson had 17 kills for Hawaii. UNM ends the season at 20-10 and three Lobos play their final match at UNM: Rose Morris, Anna Lehne and Allie Suiter.Friday: Hawaii 3, Lobos 0 (22-25, 16-25, 21-25) |
