ARLINGTON, Texas --- Senior Jeanne Fairchild recorded 17 kills as the University of New Mexico volleyball team beat host University of Texas-Arlington, 3-1 (25-13, 25-12, 19-25, 25-19) in the final match of the UTA Holiday Inn Invitational. Fairchild was named to the All-Tournament Team for her efforts in the two matches over the weekend.

The Lobos (10-2) took a 4-0 lead before UTA cut the lead to 9-7. New Mexico gradually built the lead to 20-13 and held off the Mavericks with five straight points, including two kills by Anna Lehne. Fairchild had six kills in the first set.

New Mexico had an 8-4 lead in the second set and put the set out of reach behind the serve of Allison Buck for seven points for a 15-4 lead.

Ally Wade had three consecutive kills for UTA (4-10) and an error by UNM put the Mavericks ahead 18-14. The Lobos closed to 18-17 on blocks by Lehne.

The Lobos overcame a four-point deficit at 7-3 in the fourth set to take the lead for good at 15-14.

In addition to Fairchild's team-leading 17 kills, Lisa Meeter had 15 and Lehne had 11. Taylor Hadfield also chipped in with nine, while Allie Suiter had seven. Jade Michaelsen had a season-high 54 assists and Gayle Tripp had 19 digs.

The Lobos finish their month-long road trip next week at Mountain West Conference foes San Diego State and UNLV. New Mexico will return home for the first time since Aug. 30 on Thursday, Oct. 2 against BYU. Match time is set for 7 p.m. at Johnson Center and will be broadcast on The Mtn.
