San Diego, Calif. -- The University of New Mexico volleyball team lost to the San Diego State Aztecs tonight in four games, 32-30, 26-30, 30-24, and 30-22 to fall to 6-14 overall and 1-6 in the Mountain West Conference. SDSU is 15-9 and are 6-1 in league play.

Leading the Lobo attack with 21 kills was junior outside hitter Anna Reines. Reines hit .320 for the match on 21 kills, five errors in a career-high 50 attempts. Senior Vanessa Shields scored her eighth double-double of the season with 13 kills and 10 digs. Senior Staci Masten scored her third double-double with 11 kills and 15 digs. Masten added one block solo and four block assists.

UNM hit .216 for the match scoring 61 kills and defensively adding 71 digs. Four Lobos scored double figure digs including senior Blaire Burns who scored a career-high 20. Sophomore setter Monica Meihack scored her seventh double-double of the season with 49 assists and 13 digs.

Freshman Chelsea Sondrup defensively totalled seven block assists. As a team the Lobos scored 22 block assists and tied SDSU in blocks 12.0 to 12.0.

New Mexico will be back in action on Fri., Oct. 25 at Air Force which will cap off their three-match road series before returning home to host the BYU Cougars on Fri., Nov. 1 and the Utah Utes on Sat., Nov. 2. Both matches will be held at Johnson Arena on the UNM main campus.
