Update - The University of New Mexico volleyball team (7-14, 2-6 MWC) will host the Cougars of Brigham Young on Fri., Nov. 1 and the No. 22 ranked Utes of Utah on Sat., Nov. 2. Both matches are slated for a 7 p.m. start at Johnson Arena on the UNM Main Campus.

Ticket Information - Tickets for Lobo Volleyball can be purchased through the UNM Athletics Ticket Office at 505.925.LOBO (5626) or through Tickets.com, at 1.800.905.3315. All seats are General Admission. Single game prices are $4 for Adults, $3 for Seniors (55+), and $2 for Youth (18 and under). UNM Faculty and Staff as well as, UNM Students are free with valid ID. Saturday versus Utah is the Annual Jam Johnson Night with tickets going for $1 a piece. Promotions include for UNM Students - one semester of free books, and Pizza Hut will provide a pizza party for the group with most fans. Looking at the Competition - The Cougars lost both their matches on the road this past weekend, first at the hands of the Rebels of UNLV, 1-3, then to the Aztecs of SDSU, 3-0. BYU is 9-14 overall and 4-5 in the MWC. The No. 22 ranked Utes are 16-6 overall and 6-3 in conference play. The Utes defeated both SDSU and UNLV this past weekend on the road - both in 3-0 shutouts.

Series vs. BYU/Utah - The Lobos lost both their matches on the road in Utah against both the Cougars and the Utes earlier this season. Heading into their 59th meeting, BYU holds a commanding 51-7 series record against UNM. The Utes hold a 29-26 mark against the Lobos heading into their 56th meeting.

Records Update - Freshman Chelsea Sondrup scored one block solo and four block assists against Air Force. Sondrup’s season total 81 block assists, is five shy of fifth place in UNM Record books for single season records and is 30 away from breaking the record held by Robyn Wentworth (110 • 1994) set during her senior season. Senior Staci Masten is right behind her with a season total 76 block assists. Senior Vanessa Shields is 13 service aces shy of fifth place in UNM single season records. Shields season ace total stands at 25.

Sliva hits 150 - New Mexico head coach Kelley Sliva hit 150 career victories with the 3-0 decision over the Air Force Academy this past weekend. Sliva is in her 10th year as a head coach at the Division I level, having coached at Northern Arizona and New Mexico.

Recap • vs. AFA - The Lobos wrapped up their three match road schedule with a three-game win over the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. The Lobos took the match 30-23, 30-24, and 30-27 to improve to 7-14 overall and 2-6 in the Mountain West Conference. Senior Vanessa Shields scored her team-leading ninth double-double of the season with 11 kills and 10 digs, adding three block assists. Senior Staci Masten hit a career-high .435 on 12 kills, two errors in 23 attempts. Masten scored five assists and defensively added five block assists. Freshman Chelsea Sondrup scored one block solo and four block assists to bring her season block assist total to 81. Sondrup is five shy of moving into fifth place in UNM record books for block assists. The record stands at 110 held by former Lobo Robyn Wentworth (1994). Masten is right behind her at 76 block assists for the season. Sophomore Cayse Kaveny quietly scored six block assists to bring the UNM match total to 20. The Lobos outblocked the Falcons 12.0 to 6.0 and out hit AFA .298 on 49 kills, 18 errors in 104 attempts to the Falcons .212 (48-23e-118ta). Sophomore setter Monica Meihack totaled 37 assists and hit .400 against AFA on six kills, two errors in 12 attempts. Playing in her first match as a Lobo, freshman walk-on from Las Cruces, Adah Burke scored one service ace and five digs.

Head Coach Kelley Sliva - Sliva comes to UNM after spending the past nine years at Northern Arizona University. Her career record stands at 150-118 (.560). While at NAU, Sliva took the Lumberjacks to their first NCAA Volleyball Championship appearance (1999) and earned two Big Sky titles (1999 tournament and 2000 regular season). Sliva was named the 1999 Big Sky Coach of the Year. Sliva’s NAU teams scored five straight winning seasons, going 90-45 since the 1997 season.

Mountain West Conference - Two Lobos are listed in MWC stats (all matches) in kills - junior Anna Reines is seventh in kills averaging 3.62 per game. Senior Vanessa Shields is 13th averaging 3.04 kills per game. Sophomore Monica Meihack is listed seventh in both conference and all matches in assists averaging 10.52 per game. Meihack is listed 12th in digs averaging 2.48 (all matches). Senior Blaire Burns ranks second in digs with a 3.16 per game average. Senior Staci Masten is 14th in blocks averaging 1.08 per game. Freshman Chelsea Sondrup is averaging 1.16 blocks per game which ranks her ninth in all matches, fifth in conference only matches at a 1.39 per game average. In conference only matches, New Mexico is third in service aces with a 1.61 per game average and is second in digs with a 13.43 per game average. Shields is second the conference in service aces with a 0.54 per game average while Meihack is third with a 0.50 average. Burns is listed second in digs with a 3.50 per game average.
