    UNM vs. Utah: The Lobos are 25-42 against Utah in a series that dates back to 1975. The Lobos are 9-19 in Salt Lake City. UNM will be attempting to end a seven-match losing streak against Utah, including a 3-1 loss in Albuquerque on Oct. 4.

    Up Next: The Lobos stay in Utah for a return match at BYU. The Lobos beat the then-nationally ranked Cougars, 3-0 on Oct. 2. The match at BYU on Saturday, Nov. 1, will be telecast live on BYU-TV, and replayed on The Mtn. on Nov. 2.

    • Fairchild Named MWC Player of the Week, Ranks 3rd in NCAA and Leads MWC ... Senior All-America candidate Jeanne Fairchild was named Mountain West Conference Player of the Week on Monday. Fairchild continues to lead the Mountain West Conference in kills (4.82 ps) and points (5.20 ps) this season. Fairchild ranks third in the nation in kills per set this week. The Albuquerque native reached the 1,000-kill career mark at UNM on Oct. 4 against Utah with her final kill of the third set. Fairchild now has 1,095 kills at UNM.

    • Lobos Among Tops In Attendance ... New Mexico moved up to 21st in the national attendance rankings this week after great crowds of 1,772 and 1,809 last week against UNLV and San Diego State. UNM is averaging 1,500 fans over the first eight home matches of the season. The Lobos' season-high 2,236 fans showed up on Oct. 2 against BYU. The Lobos are second in the MWC behind Colorado State in 10th with 2,587 fans per match.

     

     

    • Volley For The Cure Update ... Over $3,200 was raised for the American Cancer Society on Thursday, Oct. 23, on Volley For The Cure night, promoting breast cancer awareness.

    • UNM vs. NMSU ... The Rio Grande Rivalry match on Nov. 28 is set for 6 p.m.

    • Jam Johnson Right Around The Corner ... The Lobos annual Jam Johnson Night is set for Thursday, Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m. UNM will face nationally-ranked Colorado State in a televised match on The Mtn.

UNM ended an 8-match losing streak against UNLV on Sept. 27 and won for the first time in Vegas since 2000 with a 3-0 sweep ... The Lobos won for the first time in Laramie since 2001 with a 3-0 sweep on Oct. 9.

    Fairchild Gaining On Top Five ... Senior outside hitter Jeanne Fairchild reached the 1,000-kill career plateau with 24 kills against Utah on Oct. 4. Fairchild now needs 28 kills to crack the top five on the UNM career kills list.
