Volleyball: Lobos Fall to Cougars, 3-0
Albuquerque, N.M. -- The University of New Mexico volleyball lost to the BYU Cougars tonight by the scores of 30-25, 30-19 and 30-22 to fall to 7-15 overall and 2-7 in the Mountain West Conference. BYU improves to 10-14 overall and 5-5 in conference play.
Freshman Chelsea Sondrup hit .389 for the match on 7 kills, no errors in 18 attempts. Senior Staci Masten led the Lobos with eight kills. Sophomore Cayse Kaveny hit .200 on six kills, four errors in 10 attempts. Kaveny added one block solo and one block assist.
As a team the Lobos hit .061 on 35 kills, 29 errors in 99 attempts to the Cougars .350 (52k-17e-100ta). BYU out dug the Lobos 27 to 23 and out-blocked UNM 12.0 to 3.0.
New Mexico will take on the No. 22 ranked Utes of Utah tomorrow night at 7 p.m. in the annual Jam Johnson Night with tickets going for $1 a piece. Promotions include for UNM Students - one semester of free books, and Pizza Hut will provide a pizza party for the group with most fans.)
