Laramie, Wyo. -- The University of New Mexico volleyball team lost to the Wyoming Cowgirls tonight in four games, 30-24, 28-30, 30-24, and 30-26. The Lobos are now 7-18 overall and are 2-10 in the Mountain West Conference.

Leading the Lobos was junior outside hitter Anna Reines who had a team high 19 kills. Reines also scored a career-high two block solos and added one block assist. Sophomore Cayse Kaveny also had a great night hitting scoring .400 on 11 kills, three errors in 20 attempts.

Sophomore setter Monica Meihack had 53 assists, one shy of her career high. Junior defensive specialist Andrea Sanchez was the lone Lobo in double figure digs with 10.

Senior Blaire Burns had a career-high 13 kills against Wyoming and hit .222 for the match (13k-5e-36ta). Burns added nine digs and one block solo.

As a team UNM hit .261 on 60 kills, 23 errors in 142 attempts to Wyoming’s .298 (72k-27e-151ta). The Lobos out blocked UW 9.0 to 7.0 , but were out served with the Cowgirls serving up 16 aces to UNM’s 4.

Next weekend the Lobos will host San Diego State on Fri., Nov. 15 and UNLV on Sat. Nov. 16 in their final regular season home matches. Lobo seniors Kelly Griffin, Vanessa Shields, Blaire Burns and Staci Masten will be honored on Saturday.
