ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Lobos have claimed their first two regular-season games under head coach Mike Bradbury and will look for another as they face a tough opponent on Sunday, Nov. 20 at Texas Tech. The Lobos (2-0) will play the Lady Raiders (1-1) Sunday at 1 p.m. (MT) in Lubbock, Texas.
The Lobos enter the match coming off of two dominating performances that include nearly 30-point victories over Fairleigh Dickinson (83-56) and New Mexico State (84-55). In UNM’s most recent matchup, redshirt-junior Alex Lapeyrolerie once again led the Lobos with 20+ points. She netted 22 points to lead four double-digit scorers on Tuesday including senior Richelle van der Keijl (19), sophomore Jaisa Nunn (15) and junior Jayda Bovero (13).
The Lady Raiders are entering Sunday’s contest coming off of an overtime loss vs. No. 24 Texas A&M, despite scoring 90 points for their second-straight game. Texas Tech was led by Recee’ Caldwell who scored 38 points on the day, followed by Jada Terry who netted 24 and collected 11 rebounds.
The Coaches:
The Lobos are led by head coach Mike Bradbury in his first season with the Lobos, his 10th season overall. Bradbury posts a career record of 180-117 to date and, following UNM’s first two games of the season, he is now 2-0 at the helm of the Lobos.
Texas Tech is coached by Candi Whitaker in her fourth season. She has guided the Lady Raiders to a 34-58 record in her tenure at Texas Tech and posts a 111-151 record in her career.
Series History:
Sunday’s meeting will mark the 18th between the two squads. The Lobos are 3-14 all-time against the Lady Raiders, all three wins have come at home at WisePies Arena – The Pit. UNM looks for its first win over Texas Tech this week as the Lobos are 0-8 on the road against the squad and 0-1 in neutral contests. The last time UNM earned the win was on Nov. 15, 2012, the score was 65-61.
